He is already showing his natural point and retrieve. He also is being loved in the home by his new family. In talking with people from all over the country I often get asked why should I buy a German Shorthaired pointer from Best Gun Dogs? One of my responses to the question would be that we do this for a living. We eat, sleep, and dream German Shorthaired pointers. We spend time with our dogs every day working them in the field and continuing their learning. We work with hundreds of dogs getting the opportunity to see a lot of different blood lines. We spend hours and hours combing over pedigrees and doing research on the top producing German Shorthairs across the country. This is not a hobby this is what we pour our heart and soul into. From the time a puppy is born until the day it leaves our facility we have been spending time and effort to make that puppy or adult dog the best it can possibly be.

We are using our training knowledge and time spent in the field to help you find the puppy or dog that is going to meet your requirements. We take pride in making sure we pair up the right dog with the correct family. How important are genetics?

Today I was able to spend time in the field working dogs with some new friends. They were on the hunt for a new bird dog to be there hunting dog and companion. One that could be a companion during the off season, great with kids, and other dogs. But when hunting could be a dog that was aggressive in the field. They came to our facility with a positive out look and we showed them several different dogs from several different breeds. Through out the day one gentleman started to ask how important genetics where. He told the story of his father in law purchasing a dog in a wal-mart parking lot. His father in law was told that the dog would be as good as his training indicating that the dog would be a product of it’s training only. As he continued to tell the story he could tell with the smile on my face that I knew the end before he told it to me. Well this led to a great discussion about the importance of finding bird dogs with natural god given talent. Simply put you can be the best trainer in the country but if your pointing dog doesn’t point birds or your retrieving dog doesn’t retrieve birds it isn’t going to amount to much of a hunting dog. If this wasn’t a written blog on the internet you could see the fire in my eyes and here the passion in my voice at this point! We continued our discussion about the different dogs that we had run through out the day each one demonstrating there strengths and there faults. Each one showing there natural abilities. He was impressed how even a very young dog could be doing the same work as an experienced dog with many hours of training. This is the importants of genetics. If you take the time and spend the money to get the right dog you will save yourself hours and dollars in training and hunting. Do the research! One of our strengths here at Best Gun Dogs is we get to see all different kinds of breeds and Genetic lines. We get to compare and compete dogs with different breeds and with different blood lines. We get to see first hand who is the Best and who is average. Using what we have learned over the years helps us strength our breeding program it allows us to be breeding what we feel are the best dogs in the country. We are excited about the litters we have planned this year. Bob White Quail Hunting

I was able to schedule a quail hunting trip this past week with some good friends of mine. It was a blast watching the bird dogs handle the quail. All our bird dog training is starting to pay off. One of my favorite quail hunting dogs is the German Shorthair Pointer. We have some young dogs that are starting to mature and gain more experience. It’s exciting to watch them learn how to hunt for the gun. It always takes my breath away when watching a pointing dog work and handle a bird with class and style. On this particular hunt we got to test out some of our new bird dog equipment. I was able to use a new Tri-Tronics e-collar that provided a better transmitter range. We had a great time and look forward to Hunting Bob White quail again soon!
